Pick Ups: (Not Mine) Spoon Axle +Spoon Toe Arms

I’m lucky enough to have crazy friends with crazy taste that let me live vicariously through them, it is what sets them apart from a majority of other enthusiasts in my opinion. They are willing to take it to that extra degree that some others would think is superfluous and not a necessity.

My buddy Areen with his crazy Spoon’ed out S2000 picked up some parts for his car……

DSC05307

Legit Spoon Sports axles! How many of these are floating around in the USA?  I’m betting you these are the only ones in the USA…..

DSC05311

What makes these different than normal axles you say? Quoted from the Spoon EU Website….

“The importance of a reliable driveshaft is often overlooked in endurance racing to street applications. The standard Honda units do not lack strength themselves, the troubles and failure of the driveshafts are often the finishing quality. Slight pitting can occur on the contact surfaces, which under high heat deteriorate which then cause vibrations and failure.

The Spoon drive shafts are standard Honda units that have been disassembled then reworked and reassembled by Spoon technicians. Each contact surface has been polished and finished to exacting standards and then the components are matched during assembly to ensure the highest tolerances.

This ensures a smooth power delivery and reliable service ”

TLDR: Spoon takes the axles apart and micro polishes the bearings and repacked it with high quality grease…..

I blanked out the serial number because Areen paid good money for these and the last thing I want to see is the number being knocked off….

DSC05313

These would good perfect with some Spoon Axle Spacers

DSC05316

He Also picked up a SPOON REAR CONTROL ARM KIT….. Basically the Bump Steer kit for the S2k made by Spoon…. What sets these apart from other companies that have released the same type of component? These are made from Steel instead of aluminum, which makes these more reliable and stronger…..

DSC05317

DSC05319

Details like this is what sets his Spoon build apart from other Spoon builds….. He’s also a big fan of ASM, so the car will never really be a complete catalogue car…..

DSC05327

DSC05329

The new look with the Spoon over fenders installed and painted!

DSC05322

Speaking of insane enthusiasts with an eye for quality. Dallas have been building this VW Rabbit Diesel Truck…. I love how he added legit Volk CE28n to his build and an exhaust system that was worked on by none other than Hytech…..

DSC05325

Of course a shot of my car too! The undertray of my Amuse R1 Bumper is getting more and more scraped as the driveways in LA are angled very steep….

Life: I showed up to the wrong party….

I’m a pretty unorganized person , for example, one time I booked a flight for the wrong week 3 months ahead and didn’t find out until I showed up to the airport and realized I was flying out 3 weeks later…… I don’t know how or why, but I thought the Petersen Japanese Car meetup was a week earlier than when it actually was.

Since I thought the meet was a week earlier than when it actually was, I washed my car a day and week too early….. I took a picture of my car fresh out of the car wash, I don’t go too crazy detailing, I usually take it to a DIY coin carwash place and spray down my car and dry with micro fiber towels, Costco micro fiber towels, only the best.  What you can’t really see is the crazy amount of scratches I have underneath my bumper for scraping the hell out of it all over LA……I can’t image what my subframe looks like, I’m sure it’s beat to death now since I’ve been force to daily the car recently…
I meet up with my buddy Alvin and gave him this Spoon Reservoir cover I got from Japan.  Honestly it looks a bit cheesy, something about that S in the spoon font…..  This  Evening he just got back from his first track day so he was super stoked.
The Car wash was Saturday night.  Sunday rolled around, I woke up fucking early, picked up Alvin, and off to what I thought was gonna be a JDM car meet.  Something was definitely going on at the Petersen since we got passed by a few cars on the road heading to the museum parking structure.  I thought it was funny that the cars that passed us were non-Japanese cars like this Mustang……This mustang was actually in front of us getting into the parking structure and was driven by Automotive Designer, Henrik Fisker, ex-ceo of Fisker Automotive.  This Mustang is a special edition designed by Fisker himself, I personally think it’s god awful ugly…..You can definitely bet after the show, I was waiting for this car to drive off and crash into something like most mustangs leaving car meets.

The meet is called the Petersen Breakfast cruise-in….. It is open to all makes and models. The Petersen provides free Coffee and Bagels to everyone that attends.  There was a good representation of Porsche air-cooled goodness.

Alvin thought the color on this car was rad, he told me it reminds him of butter.
C7 Corvette.

Enter a caption

Some dude showed up in a bikini top Miata, of course I didn’t get a picture of it.  The miata rocks a Maruha Timing cover, and a Kraftwerks SuperCharger.  He told me it puts down 240whp.  He tracks his car often and said his Tein EDFC active suspension system really helps rough tracks since the suspension auto adjusts itself to the condition while he is driving…. Suspension has sure come a long way.
Ferrari Testarossa goodness.
This Red and Black Ferrari Testarossa combo was pretty awesome.

Aston Martin DB7, these cars have aged well, it is still a stunner.
And where there is a Aston Martin DB7 there must be a Aston Martin DB8 near by!
I love how the weave of the carbon fiber meets in the middle.

I was not too sure what this was, I’m assuming it is some sort of rebodied Porsche…..
That is what gave me that clue.  I’m sure someone can chime in and let me know what this is.

Lotus 7, Caterham, Kit car, one of the above…..My Friend Chris with the Lotus runs the same Toyo R888 on his car in what looks like the same width….I wonder if it’s a Lotus thing.

A Lamborghini Diablo VT showed up like a boss.  Check out those exhaust pipes!
Another car that showed up like a boss was this Toyota Starlet.  I got a soft spot for well done starlets.  Even dudes in Ferraris were breaking their necks staring at this car.
Especially when they are rocking a 4AG that is carbed!
Clean Datsuns 240Z like this car are getting harder and harder to find.
All different types of cars showed up.

There was a whole crew of BMW Z8s that showed up.  Seeing one BMW Z8 is a treat in the wild, but seeing a whole row of them in different colors was something else. There was probably 9+ BMW Z8 in attendance.
The reason for the large BMW Z8 turnout is because Henrik Fisker was in attendance, who also designed this car….All the owners got their cars signed.
Like this particular BMW Z8 that is an extremely rare Alpina version.
I’m liking that Silver on Red!  Reminds me of a certain S2k 🙂

That guy with a grey cap is actually famous Youtubber Alejandro Salomon, aka Salomondrin. He’s an enthusists that drives and owns more than his fare share of exotic cars.

Like this Dodge Viper ACR!

I was really feeling the colors on this Ferrari, the blue calipers really stick out on this grey car and the HRE wheels really make it pop.

I’m a sucker for Red interiors, especially on white cars.  This Mercedes Benz 250SE is a proper cruiser.
Voltex wings on Nissan GTRs, so right.

The interior of the Diablo VT is fresh as hell…..

I feel like I’m getting jaded living in SoCal.  2 hellcats, a BMW M5, and a Mercedes Benz GT roll in and I wasn’t even excited……..

The event is only a few hours long, so people started rolling out…….

After the morning meet, we hung out at our friend Chris’s house.  He was assisting me correcting some fitment issues I had with my Ap2 taillights I installed years ago that was bothering me…..It is better now, but I feel like I need to find a better solution to make it even more flush.  Chris is a Mechanical Engineer by trade and he makes his old Custom wings for the S2000.  They are extremely secure and actually engineered and tested, unlike other brands…..*ahem battle aero*…… Check it out here

IMG_6860

He also helped me put on my H Badge sticker I bought from Japan. It covers the holes in the trunk left by my old emblem. I’m really bad at putting on stickers, I always end up getting air bubbles in them one way or another. I think it looks great, very Porsche GT3RS-esque.

Meet Life: S2000 無限 Mugen Madness in Arcadia

I’m pretty excited about this post. Never ever would I thought I was going to move to California a few years ago and be able to experience the amazing car culture that only Southern California has to offer. There is seriously a car event every week of all different types, if I want to go to a Ferrari gathering, I can do that and see some rare ass Italian machinery, if I want to only see Japanese imports, I can do that too, and see some rare Japanese classics. Living on the east coast, the car community is much smaller and they don’t focus on the crazy Japanese Tuner oriented builds as much like the guys out here.

I remember being one of the few in Virginia/DC really focused on high quality authentic Japanese parts, looking up to my favorite tuners like ASM, Spoon, J’s Racing, and trying to execute it to the best of my ability, anyone can buy some wheels that say Volk on it and put them on your cars, ask any Volk GT-N owners…..(kidding not kidding). The small niche in our automotive community that are absolute nerds of high quality and rare Japanese parts and will take it to 11th degree are mostly based in California. Over the past months I’ve been lucky to meet and talk to some people that have insane builds and have an extensive wealth of knowledge when it comes to oddball JDM stuff…..

A few weeks ago I crashed an NSX meet with some S2k guys (we asked the organizer before we went), luckily I ended up seeing someone I know that owns an NSX, so it wasn’t too bad….. Speaking of, don’t crash vehicle specific meets with another type of car!  If it’s a car specific meet and you show up with a CRZ, generally the owners of the meet don’t really give a crap about your car even if you have all the legit JDM goodies…I know it’s an elitist attitude, but if a civic shows up to an S2k gathering and talks about his car, I generally don’t care…… Once again sorry for the shaky pictures, I have the shakes pretty bad and I left my Tripod at home…..

Never ever would I think I would what I found there……(/end Buzzfeed)Meet Life: S2000 無限 Mugen Madness in ArcadiaI love this look, Black NA2 face with Volk CE28, with an NSX-R Bonnet, NSX-R Wing, and Recaro seats.  I remember seeing a car like this for 21-23k back in 2008…..These things are going up in price so fast now…..

Meet Life: S2000 無限 Mugen Madness in Arcadia

Meet Life: S2000 無限 Mugen Madness in ArcadiaClean Black NA2 I posted in my Ferrari Petersen post.  I was able to take a closer look at this car.
Meet Life: S2000 無限 Mugen Madness in Arcadia
Meet Life: S2000 無限 Mugen Madness in ArcadiaI’m really digging the red Bride Cuga seats.  It’s nice to see a change from the normal Bride Gias or Stradia seats.  I kind of miss my old Bride Gias sometimes.
Meet Life: S2000 無限 Mugen Madness in ArcadiaNice carbon fiber wing, not sure who makes this one…
Meet Life: S2000 無限 Mugen Madness in ArcadiaThis guy was showing me his Taitec NSX engine cover, it’s super light and high quality. The NSX stuff makes the S2k parts seem cheap in comparison.

Meet Life: S2000 無限 Mugen Madness in Arcadia

This wide-bodied NSX came out.  Random tangent, my first time I came to LA by myself, my buddy actually brought me to his favorite bar in Atwater….

Meet Life: S2000 無限 Mugen Madness in Arcadia

From my observation, it seemed like the NSX guys were a bit older, they seemed like Honda guys that used to run Civics back in the 90s and early 2000s and graduated to an NSX.  The S2000 crowd are Civic owners that were able to get the S2k once they dropped in prices…..

Meet Life: S2000 無限 Mugen Madness in Arcadia

Of course I gotta have a shot of my car, I don’t post enough photos of it.

Meet Life: S2000 無限 Mugen Madness in Arcadia

This is what really set off the night for me.  An authentic full Ap2 Mugen Catalog car, down to the brake fluid….  The owner told me he is just missing a sway bar they don’t make anymore…..

Meet Life: S2000 無限 Mugen Madness in ArcadiaAnd if that wasn’t enough, parked next to it also is his Ap1 Full Mugen catalog car, that’s right he owns both Mugen S2000s, an Ap1 and Ap2……
Meet Life: S2000 無限 Mugen Madness in Arcadia

It’s so complete, Mugen Dry Carbon fiber hardtop, Mugen Dry Carbon Hood, Mugen GP wheels……..

Meet Life: S2000 無限 Mugen Madness in Arcadia

Here you can see the Mugen GP wheels, with Mugen Active Brake Rotors……
Meet Life: S2000 無限 Mugen Madness in ArcadiaMugen Underbite vs Mugen Smiley face.  Of course Mugen MF-10 Wheels on the Ap1.
Meet Life: S2000 無限 Mugen Madness in ArcadiaI believe this is the same Mugen Ap1 featured on Road and Track years ago….
Meet Life: S2000 無限 Mugen Madness in ArcadiaI don’t see many Mugen GP wheels nowadays.  It’s refreshing to see them.  This car is running RE-01R tires…. I haven’t seen these tires in years.
Meet Life: S2000 無限 Mugen Madness in Arcadia

Of course Mugen MF10 are always a classic look.  One of my favorite all time rims.  This is also running the Mugen active gate rotors and pads.  The wheels are so mint, they are still running Potenza RE070 tires.

Meet Life: S2000 無限 Mugen Madness in ArcadiaAnother shot of the MF10 Rims.  I can’t get enough.  This wheel is from the early run, the newest wheels don’t have this same color……

Meet Life: S2000 無限 Mugen Madness in Arcadia

Both of the S2ks have Mugen Dry Carbon Hardtops!  This hardtop is a prototype and doesn’t even have a serial number on it!

Meet Life: S2000 無限 Mugen Madness in Arcadia
The crazy thing about the black AP1 is that he has an engine custom built by Mugen.  Yes, you heard that right. In the early 2000s King Motorsports, offered customers the opportunity to order a fully built Mugen engine….. and this car has one of them.  There are only a few of these fully factory built mugen engines floating around in the world!

Meet Life: S2000 無限 Mugen Madness in ArcadiaAs always, Mugen Dry Carbon hardtops, the quality is insane….  This is why I think California is the Mecca of S2000 tuning or tuning in general.  Including this gentleman, I can think of maybe 4-5 guys that have Authentic Mugen Dry carbon hardtops in this State!  No where else has that, not Florida, not New York Metro area, no where else besides Japan.

Meet Life: S2000 無限 Mugen Madness in Arcadia

It wouldn’t be a complete Mugen Catalog car if it didn’t have Mugen S1-R seats.  Everything is so period correct here.

Meet Life: S2000 無限 Mugen Madness in ArcadiaI took a peak under the Dry Carbon Mugen Carbon Fiber Hood.

Meet Life: S2000 無限 Mugen Madness in Arcadia

Of course he has all the Mugen goodies under here, Mugen Dry Carbon Spark plug cover which was recently discontinued…..  The Red Wires are the ASM Grounding kit, I remember when grounding kits were all the rage.
Meet Life: S2000 無限 Mugen Madness in Arcadia

Mugen Dry Carbon Intake, Mugen Radiator which was has also been discontinued, and a Mugen Radiator cap….. The engine also sports Mugen Mount kit and Mugen Headers…..

Meet Life: S2000 無限 Mugen Madness in Arcadia

Meet Life: S2000 無限 Mugen Madness in Arcadia

These cars are like time capsules, they’ll always be relevant no matter what time period as they were 10+ years ago when they were built.

Meet Life: S2000 無限 Mugen Madness in Arcadia

I’ll close this out with this rear shot of both Mugen S2000s, the Ap1 also sports a Full Mugen Exhaust system……

I was so blessed to see both of these cars, it’s so rare to see an extremely complete Mugen S2000, let alone two of them.

DIY: How to install DriveShaft Spacers on an S2000 (Sorta)

A few weeks ago I helped a buddy install Spoon Driveshaft Spacers on his s2000. Driveshaft spacers correct the rear suspension geometry when the car is lowered and reduce strain on the CV joints on the axles.

DSC00593

We went to “Your Dream Garage” in Baldwin Park, essentially it’s a shop that rents out their lifts with basic hand tools for $25 a hour. This is extremely convenient for people like me that live in an apartment and wrenching on your car in the parking garage is frowned upon. The shop is pretty good, but don’t ask the employees for an extra hand since they aren’t actual mechanics themselves and will charge you for your time….. I borrowed a guy’s leg for a brake bleed and they tried to charge me and arm and a leg for that! Tools are all harbor freight, so keep that in mind too, I usually bring my own Snap-on tools.

DSC00590

Here they are setting up Alvin’s Car for the lift or hoist if you’re in another country….The wood planks are for lowered cars incase you are wondering.

DSC00596

The owner of the Shop has an S2k, although he isn’t very enthusiastic about it when you talk to him about it….It does have some quality parts on it, or so it seems. It looks like it has an ASM hood, ASM Fenders, Rear ASM Overfenders, Craftsquare mirrors, CWest N1 Ver.II front bumper…which you don’t see too many nowadays, it used to be relatively popular in 2005-2008ish…. The ASM Fenders are missing the famous Ferrari Blinkers, but for a guy that doesn’t seem to give a shit about his S2k he has a bunch of random and what seems to be authentic parts on his car…. Makes me wonder if he bought the car like that…for some reason to me, the build screams 2008….like it was built around that era. Also the interior of his car has door pull handles like a Porsche GT3 RS, which I didn’t take a picture of.

DSC00598

Once again more quality parts but sort of obscure parts for today’s S2k standards……RAYS 57 Motorsports G07WT Wheels with which seems to be with a Brembo GT-R Big Brake Kit….a 6piston MSRP $8,0000 BBK. It just boggles my mind the owner doesn’t give a shit about this car, maybe rich people problems?

DSC00602
Alvin Raising the car on the lift

DSC00599

Wheels are Enkei RPF1s (duh, aka ap2v4) and HKS Low Power Exhaust, oops I meant Hi-Power….

DSC00605

We used their airguns to pop the wheels off…Like his Apexi Coilovers?

DSC00606

To gain access and provide wiggle room so we can move the axle you need to unbolt the upper bolts on the upper control arms. An airgun made quick work of this.

DSC00608

Be sure to mark where the axle meets the diff assembly. We used the airgun with a long extension and a box wrench on the other side of the nut to remove each bolt…

DSC00617

Pop in the driveshaft spacers and make sure everything is aligned right and bolt everything back together…. around this time my battery on my camera died…..

Hope you guys enjoyed my Sorta DIY on how to install Driveshaft Spacers. We installed the spoon driveshaft spacers since they are higher quality than the rest of the junk out there, it is made out of steel compared to the other brands that make their spacers out of aluminum.

Life: Super Street X Toyo Tires Calendar Launch Meet (Part 1)

Last month I checked out the Super Street X Toyo Tires Calendar launch in Costa Mesa. It took place at Boden AutoHaus so they were plenty of stance cars on air there. I’m usually not a big fan of stance, regardless I wanted to check it out. They were some quality builds there I’ve only seen online prior. Sorry for lack of polarizer… the pictures are too damn reflective….

Life: NSX & S2k Meet at NWP

Hi all, 新年快樂! or happy Chinese new year. I’m writing this all the way from Beijing China where I will be for a couple of days for the lunar new year….

In January my friend hosted a S2k and NSX meet at NWP. NWP is Northwood Pizza, a popular spot car enthusiasts used to meet up frequently in the Irvine area. This is the NWP in NWP4life…. This meet was on a Saturday and unfortunately I work some Saturdays, so I showed up a bit late to this meet after my stint at work, probably around 1pm in the afternoon.  By the time I got there, things were already in full swing and some people started  to roll out.

IMG_7391

S2k and NSX were both properly represented. In the past few years the price gap between the S2ks and NSXs have been increasing drastically. The s2000 has remained relatively at the same price, while the price of the NSX has been on the rise. Since the NSX is a more expensive car, I feel like they bring a more mature crowd and the majority of S2k owners nowadays are younger due to their low cost of entry…. I can understand that most NSX owners do not want to associate themselves with a younger crowd….which is why I’m so stoked that this meet happened and had a great NSX turnout. The NSX owners that come out to these are usually older guys, who cut their teeth modifying Hondas and “Upgraded” to the NSX while still sticking true to their roots.

IMG_7389

New Formula Red NA2 front end, HRE Wheels, and type-r style hood make this NSX yummy

IMG_7413

Another shot of the NFR NSX. You can see the painted stock NSX Calipers peek through. I remember the days when getting NSX calipers was hot shit to put on older Hondas, I.E Civic, Integra, my old BB6 Prelude……

IMG_7397

My crap framing, but this Berlina Black S looks great with a Voltex Front bumper, Bronze Ce28N, Mugen Hardtop, and Spoon Calipers.

IMG_7407

Blue S2k with ASM or ASM styled front bumper and Hood.

IMG_7418

IMG_7400

I checked out this Black S2k with an ARC Cooling plate and the HKS Supercharger. This is my first time seeing the HKS system in person. I am impressed how clean it looks compared to the other SuperCharger systems such as Science of Speed or the Vortech unit. The Oil Catch can setup and Coolant reservoir looks clean too, you don’t really notice it unless you look at it very hard.

IMG_7405

Close up shot of the HKS SuperCharger.

IMG_7419

The squad posted up. Areen’s Spoon AP1, Chris Lum’s Mugen AP2, and Sung’s Mugen front Ap1.  Areen is rocking his limited official Spoon team jacket, you can’t buy this jacket unfortunately….

Some people started to roll out, like this black NA1 NSX on Regamasters and a Voltex wing.

This very clean GPW S2k with an ASM front, 04 ASM rear (not pictured, I’m bad at taking pictures of the whole car, but trust me it’s there), and a host of Mugen goodies.

IMG_7456

Mugen Spark plug cover…. which was recently discontinued, Mugen Intake and Orgin Fabrications intake arm and enough Mugen bolts to blow himself up…..

IMG_7470

Man I want that damn spark plug cover!

Nick doing work!

IMG_7471

Sung giving the bumper a good look over probably comparing it to his Mugen half lip for his bumper…..

IMG_7480

CWEST Mirrors! you can see his ASM front fenders here too.

After the meet I stopped by one of my favorite spots in Costa Mesa, Period Correct. Period Correct is a clothing store that sells vintage racer inspired clothing. I love the layout of their store, the interior of the store feels like a petrolicious video. My car and the owner’s Mercedes Benz 190e 2.3-16v. The 190E is one of my all time favorite Benz, I hope this picture if a preview of things to come in my personal garage….

IMG_7513-Edit

Looks so good in black, I love how boxy the car looks….

IMG_7520

IMG_7529

IMG_7511

I love the vintage automotive artwork, the owner is a definite petrol head!

IMG_7492

The showroom has this beautiful Porsche 356, absolutely mint…..

DSC08887

Also has this beautiful Martini Livery Lancia race car.

DSC08884

I love how raw this race car looks, especially inside the store.

IMG_7496

I wonder if this even runs…

IMG_7501

Of course being Italian Pininfarina designed this beauty…..

Thanks for reading, I’ll have more events to cover when I get back.

Life: Tech day!

After the new years my friends decided to host a tech day. We all had various maintenance items to address on our cars or some people just took it as an opportunity to hang out.

DSC08024

Having an accessible lift definitely made it easier. The red Miata was doing a clutch job.

DSC08028-Edit

Black S2k with Regamasters, I don’t see too many S2000s with Regamaster wheels these days….

DSC08031

Silver S2k with Black CE28RT in 17×10 +45? I love the look of the RT Edition C28, I like how the the lip is machined not painted. The machined Volk logo is also badass! No peeling stickers here! Funny not so funny conscience, I saw his car at JCCS Neo Classics a few month ago, this was before I didn’t know who owned this car.

DSC08038

DSC08039-Edit

Voltex 1S Wing! I think the best looking “streetable” s2000 Wing on the market.

DSC08042-Edit

That Carbon life yo.

DSC08057

Everyone was working on various car maintenance. Andy installed some JPM Coachworks interior pieces for his BRZ. The quality is superb and it flows with the interior of the BRZ….This is the CLUSTER HOOD IN ALCANTARA

DSC08054

It also helps when you have the JPM Coachworks Shiftboot….else known as the 6MT SHIFT BOOT IN ALCANTARA

DSC08051

and JPM Coachworks Kneepad….KNEE PADS IN ALCANTARA

DSC08061

How cool is this? Official Honda preset 80FtLbs Torque wrench for wheel lugs.

End this off with my ASM goodie, the ASM seat rear cover 🙂

Life: Photoshoot!

Recent photoshoot with the guys this past week.

DSC07552

We are posting up waiting for the rest of the guys to catch up with us. Areen’s Spoon’ed out S2k and Colin’s BB6 Prelude

DSC07557

For some reason my trunk doesn’t stay flush anymore. I think I put something in the trunk that must of bent a torsion rod… It means I definitely have to get an ASM trunk now!

DSC07559

A Few different perspectives.

DSC07564

Areen got some new parts, he’s just waiting to get them painted.

IMG_6515

I shot this with my trusty 5dmkii with a wide angle lens and my Sony a7 with a 50mm……

Colin’s infamous BB6 Prelude. I remember he owned this Prelude when I used to have my 5th Gen Prelude years ago….. I can’t believe he still has it to this day

IMG_6540

White Hondas always look good with Red seats. Gold CE28Ns are a nice contrast to the White.
IMG_6547

What sets Colin’s BB6 apart from other Preludes in the USA is the Super Rare Wise Square/Behrman Front and Rear bumpers. Wise Square/Behrman is actually a JDM VIP company, it is interesting how they make parts for the 5th Gen Prelude. In the rear he is running a Mugen rear wing. My favorite part is the JDM Fog lights! Back in our day they didn’t make replica JDM fog lights….. I had the same fog lights in my old Prelude.

IMG_6549

Ever so timeless Volk CE28N and Spoon ITR calipers! A well executed car is absolutely timeless, it will look great 20+ years in the future as it does today. Nothing trendy on the car like stance or super wide body kits to make this car dated….

IMG_6557

S2k Steering wheel, like the one I used to have in my Prelude. The Red Bride seats make the interior.

IMG_6523

EJ’s SuperCharged OEM+ Type-r inspired ap1 build. A well executed build using OEM or oem like components, like ap2 v3 rims, CR Spoiler, Amuse R1 Front bumper, and Red DC5 ITR seats. I posted some pictures here

IMG_6551

His newly powder coated ap2v3 rims look great with the Stoptech calipers.

IMG_6558

I know I don’t post too many pictures here are some rare pictures of my current setup……

IMG_6565

IMG_6568

I feel like I need Craftsquare mirrors to complete my exterior look. The OEM mirrors look too bulky for me…..

Life: Malibu Drive + Honey Boba Meet

Hi all,

It’s been pretty chilly in SoCal recently, with temperatures in the 40s and 50s and rain, lots of rain! well for socal standards that is…..

A few Sundays ago I went for a Malibu Canyon run with some friends from Irvine. It was my first time in these canyons and it was absolutely a blast. of course I was the slowest one of the group, what’s new…..

DSC07259

Mike and Colin with their NA1 NSX and the rest of us mortals with S2ks. This picture was taken at the top of the snake.

DSC07262

The reason we stopped up here… this man selling hotdogs. They were damn good!

This past Thursday I met up with the 626 fellas at Honey Boba in Rosemead. I saw a few interesting S2ks there.

DSC07270

Shawn Nguyen’s ASM S2000. I think this was my first time looking at an Authentic ASM bumper in person and it looks great. Looks much better than the pictures online! I like the detail on the CF lip.

DSC07276

J’s Racing Racing Magnetic Numbers

DSC07278

These Volk Ce28N filled out the fenders nicely. I believe they were 17×10 +45…..

DSC07280

This Turbo’ed S2k was pretty interesting. They are not that many Turbo S2ks in California due to their smog rules. The visual inspection process is extremely strict. Even if a car passes the plug in readiness test, it can still fail if visually the engine is not stock. I believe the owner says he puts out 600hp. The car sounded good, the idle was like stock. Check out his build thread here

DSC07264

A quick peak at his Turbo Setup.

DSC07283

One more of Shawn’s S2k! So fresh.

DSC07291

Excuse me for being out of focus. My S2k and Shawn’s. It’s crazy how we have the same rims, but the offset and color make it look like a completely different wheel.
