Life: Chronicles Year 10

Hey all,

I am still alive…. Life has been busy, my daughter, new job in a new field, house stuff, etc…. adulting really takes a toll on you.  It’s funny when I tell my friends from highschool/college and mention I still have my s2k(partially) and I’m still into it, going to meets, writing blog posts, etc, they look at me like I’m a 30 year old going on 18.

I can’t shake this car thing, especially Honda S2000s, even though the scene is drastically different than when I first started.  Before I couldn’t fathom why the OG S2ks guys sold their cars and went on to different things, I would think why would you leave the greatest car god has ever created (JK not JK), but now as a fully grown man guy (I think), I finally understand, life changes and sometimes you don’t got time to drink boba and smoke cigarettes till 2am in the morning.  This younger crowd does make me think about the s2k as a platform….but I am in this for the long run…. we’ll see if this turns into 911 and the Ant.

Sorry for the long tangent…. I finally had time and approval from my boss, aka wife, to make it down to the Chronicles year 10 meet. In fact we just got off a cruise from Mexico that morning, I even made my wife, daughter, mother-in-law rush off the boat at 7am with all our luggage instead of having it delivered to the dock for us so I could make this meet. Which means our continuously screaming child was under her care for the day, while I bare the heat of beautiful Corona California…..  It was a hot one for sure, in fact every year is hot as fuck, so this year was no different.

Excuse the sensor dust… I tried my best to remove it.

Upon entering the meet, I had to say what’s up to Joe, lowkey one of the best builds out there.  He’s a super humble guy that doesn’t live for the gram like 75% of these owners nowadays.  His Mugen S2k CR is a thing of beauty and has been featured before.  I definitely look up to him, since he’s a great father and has this sick S2k, #lifegoals.

Next to Joe’s Mugen CR is Carlos’s ASM bumper S2000 CR, another S2k CR that has been “ruined” with Voltex rear over fenders and Mugen rims.

Sara Choi’s Voltex’ed S2000 CR.

EK with J’s Fenders

EG Civic with a rad Pocari Sweat livery, Osaka JDM wing, J’s racing fenders, and super jdm mismatching rims.

Jackie made it all the way from Vancouver Canada to make the meet. I’ve been following this build for years, before instagram when he just had a build thread on S2ki.  In fact I remember his car in this video back in the day. He had an 04 ASM bumper before.  Now he’s rocking a Voltex race front bumper, Voltex rear diffuser, spoon hood, craftsquare mirrors, and Voltex wing…. When he was rocking the ASM front bumper, the Voltex kit wasn’t even out yet, that’s how OG this guy is!

I love the Te37 wheels in this color.

Interior shot that shows the stack cluster.  I love the stack cluster, I actually prefer it over the S2k speedo.  Iconic Cusco blue rollcage and momo wheel with NSX-R horn button.

Another guy from Canada came down in this super clean styled Toyota Century.

I don’t even want to say VIP style, because this is the VIP.  When I think of VIP style, I think VIP cars are trying to make their car look and feel like this.

ITRs were plenty.

Sang ‘s  J’s Racing widebody turbo s2k looking good…. car for is for sale btw!

Gotuning tommy, representing Gotuning with his crazy ASM S2000 CR…. the 4th “ruined” S2000 CR at the meet.

For this event, Spoon USA brought out their Super Taikyu S2000 all the way from Japan.

Yep looks race car.

The Spoon Super Taikyu car rocking some Titan7 wheels with some 6 pot Spoon calipers.

Of course this isn’t s2kandtheant without talking about Areen’s S2k….. This is for sale too… My S2k friends’ s2ks are slowly disappearing.

Great deal if you buy it!

Since I am currently working on an EG civic, I was taking notes of all the EG civics there.

EG civic with Mugen lip, Mugen strut bar, and some green TE37.

What amazes me are these small details, like how clean this hood support is!

It is amazing how some of these cars were at wekfest in the bay area a bit prior to this event, and they all made it down to this meet.

Another shot of Jackie’s S2k.

This del sol was exceptionally done.  Mugen front bumper, Te37, K swap with Kinsler ITBs, and S2000 Spoon mirrors.

What impressed me the most are these recently discontinued crazy $$$ Mugen x Recaro MS-R seats.  You could buy many del sols for these price of these two seats.

Simple Amuse R1 front bumper S2000 with CE28n

Modest AP racing big brake kit on the s2k.

This Spoon civic that pops up at every big meet.  Pretty much everything from the Spoon catalogue except the mishimoto radiator.  I think I last saw it at Eibach in 2018.

My buddy Gabe with his Ap2 with an Ap1 front bumper.

Mugen MF10s up front and TE37 in the rear.

Joe popped his hood revealing the Mugen intake, super rare mugen spark plug cover, and ASM strut bar.

ITR with Mugen kit on some TE37.

This is by far my favorite EG Civic at the meet.  Super super clean JDM EG6 SIR.  Here you can see the super clean and rare EG6 Mugen exhaust.

This civic is perfect sitting on white Mugen MF8.

I love how pristine and stock the engine bay is. I love the OEM resonator and OEM airbox.  I find it funny how I’m coming full circle nowadays, where before I would want the most modded car, but now I want the most original car as these cars age.

Everything about this civic is perfect, sunroof visor, window visors, and yellow interior.

TSX wagon on Mugen MF10s with some more Mugen goodies.

Clean Ap1 rocking the Ap2 Mugen kit sitting on Mugen MF10.

Mugen kit goodness.

Clean r32 skyline in an interesting green color.

Pretty good turnout.

Lotus Elise on an APR kit

Front shot of the Super Taikyu Spoon S2000.

Another shot of Gotuning Tommy’s ASM s2k on Titan 7 wheels.

The Evasive booth had this Ap2 with the new Greddy Gen 2 turbo kit

Love the ASM tow hook peeking out of the Amuse R1 bumper.

shot of the Mugen ITR from earlier, The open hood reveals a K swap.

EG Tank Mike was present

Clean NA1 NSX with TE37.

Quad tipped Spoon exhaust.

Spoon prototype hardtop.  It’s amazing looking at the hardtop in detail, it is CNC’ed out of one piece of metal.

Super clean EF, I’ve been really interested in EFs lately… something about those boxy looks.

Under the hood of the Spoon Super Taikyu S2000….

Sang’s S2k again.

S2000 with wings out in full force.

Super clean ARC theme BB4 prelude.

Engine shot of the ARC theme’ed prelude.

Youtube famous LATOMMYLA TWM ITB EK civic.

shot of the TWM ITBs.

EK is on green TE37.

At the point I changed lenses that had a super scratched polarizer on it….. I didn’t realize this till later.  That’s why all the picture from here on out seem a bit hazy.

Jackie’s S2000 again showing his AP Racing pro 5000 calipers in detail.

Notched authentic Spoon hood for the turbo.

under the hood of Tommy’s car, showing off the ASM intake and Mugen Spark plug cover, and ASM dry CF hood.

Areen’s ASM hood…. looks familiar :p

Closing out this post with Phil Robles crazy Eg civic.  2019 just started, hopefully we’ll see my S2k get one step closer to a car again!

Life: Petersen Museum Japanese Cruise-In & Super Street Meet 2018 Part 2

We’re back with part II of of my Petersen Museum X Super Street Meet coverage! Please see here for my prior coverage.

DA Integra with Speed Star Racing by SSR EX-C aero covers…. try finding these nowadays.  I would hate to lose a center cap.

Dat JDM parking sensor.

A GTR with a bunch of overtake parts on it.  For those who don’t know Overtake is an in house brand by bulletproof automotive, some of their parts are made by companies such as Power House Amuse, makes sense since they are the official US Powerhouse Amuse distributor.

R33 GTR owned by Kinganytime of Hoonigan fame? Not sure if he’s a part of them anymore.

Red Cressida also featured on Hoonigan

Evo IX from DTM autobody rocking the full Voltex kit.

Love when other makes rock ASM parts.  This is very common in Japan since ASM is the Recaro dealer and outfits many of their seats into cars, i.e Porsche 911.

DanOften’s Ap1 with voltex bumper, spoon hood, and craftsquare mirrors.

Pretty serious seat setup.  Hopefully this car actually sees track time.

First gen civic with a Honda motorcycle engine.

Not sure what motorcycle this is from, I’m sure I would of found out if I read the paper above…

The wheels look like Watanabes, could be wrong…..

CHP rollin by making sure everyone is staying CARB legal.

Super Clean Civic VTi.  The  EG Civic VTi is kinda of like the SIR model but for the UK market, it comes with a B16a.  It doesn’t have the white SIR cluster, but does have red gauge needles, and a tach that goes to 8k and reads in miles.  No idea why I didn’t take more pictures but I thought it was pretty cool… Makes sense to import cars from the UK since cars are being exported from Japan at an alarming rate.

My friend Alvin was drooling over this AW11 MR2.

We decided to go downstairs into the Petersen museum since the meet was pretty small…. Out in the parking area they had this E30 M3 on display.

Inside the Petsersen Museum, out front and center, they had this Porsche 911 993 GT1 Race car on display.

Forshadowing the Porsche exhibit in the museum.

Amazing rear end, the exhaust setup looks insane.

I really like the overall shape of this car, it is very elegant.

They also had Iconic vintage Japanese sports cars out front as part of their Japanese car exhibit.  Super Rad Honda S800, grandfather to the almighty S2000.

A Subaru 360… kinda like a jdm volkswagen beetle knock off.  To the left of the Subaru is a Toyota Sports 800, which also rocks a boxer engine.  You could say this is the grandfather to the current GT86.

Finally some more S2k content, and a very historic one in fact.  Most people remember Suki’s VeilSide S2000 from 2 Fast 2 Furious….  Did you know she is Steve Aoki’s sister?  And their father is the founder of benihana….. now you knowwwwww.  I can’t remember the last time anyone mentioned ROJA wheels… throwback.

Interior is pretty standard, mostly reupholstered and the addition of gauges in the center.

The Time Machine Delorean from Back to The Future.

One of a kind Toyota 2000GT Convertible custom made for Sean Connery in the film You Only Live Twice because he was too tall….

I saw a few of these at the old Toyota Museum, which is long gone now.

Mazda FD RX7 prototype.

Mclaren 720S entirely made out of Legos.

Jaguar XJ220

Kenmeri Skyline

Famous Super Street ex-editor JDMWong’s EF Civic painted Suzuka Blue with a Rocket Bunny Kit…. funny how those two are not things I like in my book, but work soooo good here.

SSR SuperFins.

Close up shot of the superfins.

Incredibly rare Mugen Exhaust for the EF.

Dragcartel K series engine up on display.

With a mean looking header.

A Titan Motorsports Supra.  Titan motorsports is a shop famously known for tuning Supras.

Classic and new Ford GT.

Period looking Nissan Race car.  Reminds me of speed racer.

Amazing how minimalistic this car is.

Period correct zip ties holding everything together.

Mazda Cosmos.

Another Toyota 2000gt, this one more original.

Afterwards we went downstairs to check out the Porsche exhibit…. I don’t know my Porsches too well, so excuse my lack of knowledge.  This looks like a Porsche 911 930.

Yep, the 930 is a turbo…

I haven’t seen too many of these Porsche Carrera GTs in person up close.  This front bumper is where ASM found the inspiration for their bumper design.  You can see it right?

ASM may of found inspiration from the fenders too.

To my surprise, the interior looks very dated for a car of this prestige, typical early 2000s look…. You can’t see it, but something on the door card was coming apart on the passenger side.

Never a fan of tan interiors…

Porsche 911 Targa.

Porsche 356 speedster.

A more modern Porsche….

This car is the famous Rothmans Paris – Dakar Porsche 959.  I believe the dirt is original too… This must be worth a cool million dollars+.

Slantnose 911.

This car was double roped off, if that means anything.

I am going to end off this post with this Zenki 240sx on CP Hart-R wheels, I walked back into the show and took one shot and left….

Parts Review: ASM Front Tower Bar

I’ve recently been unloading a bunch of my S2000 parts to clear out some garage space…..
I wanted to show off the ASM front strut bar….. it’s currently on the market to be sold, it’s on facebook and under the SoCal section on S2ki right now if you are interested.

For the non-enthusiast this is just an overpriced piece of metal.  All of the cheaper options such as the NRG, Megan Racing, etc are much much cheaper.  But they are all replications of this bar.  Each ASM front tower bar is made from one guy in Japan at Succeed Sports.  Read more about it here

When I got the bar, I was surprised how light the bar is and how solid it feels, it really feels like one piece of pipe.  Unfortunately I think this will get in the way of my Toda ITBs, oooppss did I say that?  My car is still in pieces so yeah….  hopefully s2k parts will still be affordable when I can put my car back together.

ASM front strut Bar
It’s the same concept as some expensive watches that are all made by one man that took years to learn his craft.  If this was a Porsche part it would be triple the price I bet!

ASM front strut Bar-3The welds are perfect, it’s amazing that this is done all by hand. You don’t get this with your Megan Racing knockoff! Those Chinese kids can’t come close.

ASM front strut Bar-2
As quoted from Gotuning, “They’re not simply color treated for show. The entire manufacturing process of each bar takes 4 hours so only 2 can be produced per day. Many ASM GT series bars hold design patents to protect their innovative designs.”

ASM front strut Bar-4
I’m a proud owner of this part, I hope it will go on to a good home in the near future. I wish I could tell you how this feels on a car….

Life: The Chronicles Year 8

Hey all,

I’m finally finishing catching up the events I went to a few months ago.  This should be the last of the posts for now…..I wanted to go to the Chronicles Year 8 meet for awhile now.  Reading about them on Joey’s blog when I was living on the East coast, it always painted me a good picture of the SoCal car scene.  I knew I couldn’t miss out this year, it helps to have car friends to go with too.

This meet just so happens to be when I was in the process of moving to my new place.  I had a bunch of stuff to move and only a few days to do it….. My wife was exciting to hear I was going to a car meet instead 🙂

I met up with a few friends in Pasadena before heading out to year 8.  Chilling in front of the infamous rival machine.

Gabe’s car just came out of the paint a few days prior…. The car is looking minty fresh with the battlecraft hood.

Joe was ready to lead the way.  Those MF10s are looking dangerously close to the curb in this picture… You can remember Joe’s car from this post

October 29, 2016-DSC02355
Following Joe to the meet.

October 29, 2016-DSC02358
My buddy Alvin snapped some shots on the road…..Endless brakes look so good with the Bronze Mugen MF10 rims.

Mugen hood, CR lip, works surprisingly well.

Some shots of the Rival Machine.

Alvin took a shot of me in traffic…..

October 29, 2016-DSC02373
We’re almost there…..

Of course, this being S2kandTheAnt….I met up with Areen and Chris….. they don’t need any introductions.

interesting pinstriping on the Enkei NT03 on the Rival Machine

626 Squad.

another angle of the 626 squad.

Spoon’s newly converted center-drive FD2 Honda Civic Type R was in attendance.  I even got to sit in it! In another life, this used to be 5Zigen’s FD2R in Japan.

S2k squad represent.

It was a hot hot hot day, I think it was close to 100 degrees this day, the crazy heat forced me to buy a spoon umbrella……yeah forced……

I thought these 24k gold engine bays have gone out of style, but it looks like it is still around.

Can’t get enough of this lineup…..

Cool styled NSX.

I loved this mugen kited DC2 Type R.

the Bronze Mugen MF10 looks great against the white.

The same Spoon Civic EG that was in my Spoon sports post.  Clean as always, rocking almost the catalog of spoon parts, but that damn Mishimoto radiator always gets me!  Link for the owner if he ever reads this.

I haven’t seen this in years, an Ap1 veilside lip.

Another picture of the S2000 Veilside lip.

This Mugen themed FD2 converted Civic looked great.

the only Evo ix at the show and it was a great example of one.

Rare Mugen FA5.  True story, I remember going to a dealership in 2009 and the salesman tried to sell me this car instead of the 2009 s2k I was looking at, he was working really hard at it, these cars must have been a hard sale at the time, no real power improvements that make a car cost $6k more….but now in hindsight, it might of been a good decision….

CDM as in Canadian Domestic Market Acura CSX…. with a supercharger and Itasha livery.

PY Integra Type R.

Hector Lavario‘s Voltex Theme S2k was looking good!

Either this in an imported car or a very authentic representation of an early D1 drift car.  I love the look, very nostalgic.

Chris popped his hood, and I couldn’t help  but to snap a picture.  Mugen intakes are my favorite…..

behind me was this swan-necked Suzuka blue s2k.

Rocking Voltex Styled Aero!  Overall this was well executed.  The red car next to this car was actually K swapped using Hasport mounts…. Update 4-10-2017….. this car was on a Smoking Tire One Take

A few Porches were in attendance.

ASM styled car with M racing mirrors.

And this closes it, from the garage, back to the garage…

Life: The day I meet Ichishima San! at Spoon Sports USA

Being in Southern California and being a car enthusiast is awesome! I can’t say that enough, I can see how you can eventually become jaded from the car overload…. I’ve been cutting down on car events to keep things fresh and we just bought a house, so we’ve been busy fixing it up. When I heard Ichishima san, the SPOON Sports CEO was going to be at GoTuning, aka Spoon Sports USA, I knew I couldn’t miss it. I’m not the biggest spoon fan, but I respect their philosophy, a minimal approach to car tuning, just slightly augmenting the factory fundamentals to retain total balance over outright power…..

The event was posted all over social media, Upon arrival at GoTuning, Ichishima was not there yet, but people were still rolling in, like this EK.  I’ve always like the body style of the EK. I remember a few years ago, my dad had an EG, EK, and EF at the same time, all hatchbacks.  He let me choose one for a daily driver, in the end I picked the EG since it was the most raw with a stick shift, hand crank windows, and no moonroof, and the EF was auto 😦

This brought out a lot of Spoon fans.  Like this beautiful Spoon’ed out EG.  He had almost the entire spoon catalogue on his car, but the damn Mishimoto radiator keep bothering me…….I love the blue and black theme.

Beautifully executed.

More cool cars were rolling in, like this Mugen themed EP3 with MF10s…. funny thing about MF10s, KingMotorsports just released a re-run of Mugen MF10 yesterday, everyone and their mother has been trying to sell their used set, probably hoping to buy a brand new in box set.  King lets you buy per wheels so those guys that bought 2 sets of NSX fitment wheels for the rear wheels for over $7k+ definitely got screwed!  I think the group buy is over now……..too rich for my blood.

Hector Lavario’s Voltex themed S2k with quality authentic parts.  I really like the Volk TE37s, beats the NT03s he had before!

Took a closer look at the EP3 running the Mugen kit.  Bronze MF10s on a silver car looks so right.

I like seeing properly modded EP3s, this chassis hasn’t seen too much love over the years compared to the other models.

MF10s with EP3 Type R Calipers.

My S2k…. got all sorts of cracks on my bumper and my hardtop is in horrible shape………Anyone want to sell me a daily?

Beautifully restored EG Civic.  I love color and the red anodizing on the CE28Ns.  I overheard heard the owner talk how almost every piece on the car is new….. like a modern day restomod.

Same ITR I shot at Tech Day awhile back….. He has an instagram too, I can’t remember it off the top of my head right now…….

Some of the GoTuning Featured line up.  Their famous center-drive Super lap battle FD2, full Spoon Ver.2 demo car with prototype Spoon open air concept hardtop, GoTuning Tommy’s ASM s2k, and of course Chris Lum’s famous Mugen Ap2.

Not in the same parking lot in front of GoTuning, I found this BB6 Prelude in the same complex.  The driver’s side door was bashed in.  This car definitely has some goodies though.  JDM full red interior, HID retrofits, JDM fogs, OEM lip kit, and running TL rims!  I used to have a 5th Gen BB6 back in the day.

The Calipers look like they’re off of another model, possibly late gen Accord?

Another angle of the featured GoTuning Lineup.

I know this has been around, but it was my first time seeing this in person. What is insane about the Spoon prototype hardtop is that the entire metal piece is CNC machined out of a single block.

Areen living up the Spoon life.

At this point Ichishima san rolled up in this BMW M5, Areen is hard at work assisting Ichishima San.

Not only does he have a sick Spoon/ASM themed S2k, he’s also really good at carrying stuff.

Ichishima San arrived and got to work.  Here he is signing Hector’s car.

Checking out the Spoon themed EG Civic.

Here is when he shook the steering wheel of the Spoon themed EG civic.  He remarked how loose the steering wheel is!  He mentioned that this is incredibly unsafe.  He went around that entire day shaking everyone’s steering wheel, including mine 🙂

Chris getting his Spoon Steering wheel signed.

November 19, 2016-IMG_0906Chris’s all Mugen car.  I mentioned the car is all Mugen, and he said,  “he loves all Hondas!”

Checking out the EG civic and showing the owner of pictures of his own personal cars…… Nice Jordan IIIs btw….

People were trying to get everything signed this day.  I saw the most Spoon clusters Brand new in Box I’ve ever seen in my entire life getting signed, it’s crazy how much they go for nowadays…..

Next four pictures are shot by my buddy and talented photographer Nick aka NH512

Closing it out with this picture….here I was getting ready to yell at Ichishima san for leaning on my friend’s car…..

Life/Pick Ups: CraftSquare Mirrors with Blue Tint + Random Toda Pulleys! + More!

Woah, I haven’t updated this blog in awhile. Life is kicking into high gear again. I’ve been studying to do a possible career change. Working in infrastructure IT is kicking my ass and is starting to feel like a burden on my soul….

Luckily for my birthday, my most beautiful and caring wife bought me an item I’ve been eyeing for a long time now, something I imagined that would be part of my build years ago….Craftsquare mirrors…… Not any Craftsquare mirrors, but the spec with the anti-glare blue tint.   My birthday was in May, and these have been on order since then!  They arrived from Japan late July to my surprise. I finally got around to installing them during a tech day my first hosted a few weeks ago…..

Areen was present and was installing some ricey parts, like this Billion coolant adapter to run a coolant temp sensor and this ASM Oil stopper bracket to make sure his oil filter doesn’t come off when he’s bombing up and down the TOUGE to deliver tofu.

Why did he need to install the coolant adapter?  because he was installing the Defi Link Meter Advance ZD to keep an eye on his car’s vitals….

My mirrors out of the packaging…. I love getting new parts from Japan.  I love even more when they are gifts from my wife…..

Areen getting his car on the lift.

After a few minutes of cursing, we finally got one side on!  It was in the 90’s this day, I was sweating my ass off…..  You can see how the Craft Square Mirrors look compared to the stock elephant mirrors.  I’ve never liked the look of the OEM mirrors, they always seemed so bulky.  I do miss my power mirrors though…..

Both Mirrors on…. My car has been repainted on the driver’s side… the shitty shop that repainted my car on that side didn’t take my mirror off…..so I have a big ass circle where the mirror used to be..

Areen got got his Trust Oil filter adapter installed with his ASM Oil Filter stopper…..

🙂  I feel like I need a single exit exhaust cap for this car….

Must be nice to be rich and cut into $200 Spoon hoses to install an adapter….

Areen modeling theDefi Link Meter Advance ZD….
Oh yeah he got Toda Pulleys too…. see the end of the post for more info….

Areen giving the thumbs up!

Carlos stopped by in his CRX with brand new Volk TE37.  They look perfect on this car.

Mark stopped by with his factory fresh Mitsubishi Evo X Final Edition!

This only has a few thousand miles on it…..still has the factory Panasonic battery.

Final shot of my craft square mirror… .you can see the ring on my door in this picture….

I took a few shots of  Areen’s Toda Pulleys a month earlier…..

Of course he got the optional ASM Idler pulleys too!

Mike giving the water pump pulley a closer inspection

Can this build get any better?

I’m loving the Project Mu Rotors!

I’m closing out this post with AE86 Ron’s S2k.  This thing is mint with some choice mods…. I’m loving how his car sits with Advan Wheels and Spoon Calipers!

Photoshoot: June 2016 Photoshoot!

Photoshoot: June 2016 Photoshoot!

Happy 4th of July everyone.  Last week Warren was back in town from South Korea so we decided to get together for a quick photoshoot!  It was getting late and we were not in the mood to move our cars 100000 times….. so this is a bunch of shots in different angles.  I lost a few shots because my camera was set on auto ISO on the tripod, the pictures weren’t up to my standards so they weren’t posted.

This line up of cars  is seen plenty of times if you are a frequent visitor of this site.  From the left to right, my car, Alan’s car, Areen’s car, Chris’s car, and Warren’s car

Chris Lum’s Mugen AP2 and Warren’s AP2 with the ASM V1 rear.

Warren’s Ap2 is also rocking an Authentic Amuse Dry Carbon Hood and Amuse R1 front bumper….. The Mugen hardtop Bronze CE28N and Stoptech brakes are a nice touch…. You can see the different types of S2000 hoods in this shot.  Of course, everything is authentic!

Chris’s clean Mugen Dry CF hood and Mugen intake.

Areen’s Carbon Fiber Spoon Spark plug cover signed by Mr. Spoon himself.  The battery setup is by KcMachine
Closing this photoshoot out with Areen’s Amuse’d Ap2.

Life: Top Down Meet 10 Year Anniversary

This past Saturday we checked out the Top Down Meet 10 year anniversary meet at the La Puente Hills Mall.  The Top Down Crew are an “old school” S2k crew. Living on the East coast I was always envious of the S2k scene out in California, the east coast didn’t have too much of an S2k scene.  I remember reading about the different S2k crews in California on S2ki. Years have passed and most of the original members have moved on to newer cars or have started families, but you can tell the S2k still holds a place in their hearts.

I was planning to take a ton of pictures, but the meet ended before I had a chance to take out my tripod, everything you see here is shot handheld, so I’m sure they are plenty of cars I did not shoot that attended the meet.
A man admiring the fine machines……

Gotuning Tommy’s ASM theme Ap2 CR and a car that has been featured on this site many many many many times, Areen’s Spoon themed Ap2.

Extremely quality parts here, ASM EVERYTHING, ASM dry carbon hood, Mugen DRY CF top, ASM Prodrive wheels….. and of course we know all about Areen’s car….. Shine Everything! JK all authentic here too!

The meet was starting to look good…..Aftermarket front bumpers everywhere, like this voltex kitted car…. not too sure how many of these front bumpers were authentic though…..

A look many of the younger S2k crowd is going for nowadays…. ASM front bumper and Enkei RPF1s SBCs

As I mentioned earlier, some members have moved on…..It looks like this particular member moved on to a Datsun 510 but still rocking a TD S2k license plate.  He proudly displayed a picture of what I can assume is his prior ride.

ASM and Voltex bumpers came out in numbers that night….They were more ASM and Voltex front bumpers than stock bumpers…..

One of my favorite cars of the night.  OG S2k rocking a legit IS-11 ASM kit, CE28N, Spoon Calipers, M racing Mirrors, Mugen Hardtop, and more.

Around this time is when the cops came by and broke up the meet….about 1 hour after it got started.  They told everyone to leave or they will start writing tickets.

A few of us rolled out to another spot…. Here is Mike checking out Tommy’s ASM’ed AP2 CR.  His ASM I.S. DESIGN FRONT AERO BUMPER GT-10 is tits, I want to say this is Dry Carbon……

Warren was in town from South Korean, he brought out his awesome Amuser R1 front bumper and amuse dry carbon hood.

Chris Lum’s famous Mugen Ap2!  He’s almost been on this site many times….

Tommy popped the hood of his ASM CR and it unveiled a host of ASM goodies, the ASM CF intake, a rare piece, I think this is where passwordjdm got “inspiration” to create their intake.  Of course ASM cooling plate, ASM catch can, ASM coolant reservoir, ASM strut bar, ASM Toda throttle body, and the piece I’ve been looking around everywhere the Mugen Dry Carbon Spark Plug Cover!

The rear of Tommy’s car was all ASM too, CUSTOM Spec ASM wing, ASM 07+ rear bumper, ASM tow hook, and the ASM Siren exhaust.  It sounded so clean……
This car just happened to be in the parking lot…. FRS/BRZ? with a Voltex Swan neck wing and the best mod…..a big ass Honda badge!

Life: Nemo’s Garage Grand Opening Meet

Hi all.  Last week I checked out the Nemo’s Garage grand opening meet.  Nemo’s garage is located in Ontario, CA.  It was hot as hell that day, with temperatures in the upper 90s.

I rolled with my buddy Alvin in his LBP AP2

We found some parking off to the side….

There were plenty of civics there….

Like this K swapped RHD example

Of course, I was on the lookout for S2000s….. Like this Formula Red sitting on Advan RZ.

Instagram famous S2boost…. with J’s Fenders, Mugen Hardtop, J’s Racing rear quarter panel, and of course a Vortech supercharger……

Bronze TE37V and Spoon Calipers

My favorite civic there, and they were a lot of civics to choose from.  This is a clean and simple Spoon EG build with almost every spoon part thrown at it.

I don’t know much about CRXs, but this one looked like it had plenty of Mugen goodies……

I met up with my buddy Areen at the show and his Spoon’d out S2k.  He was parked next to a nicely executed Mugen theme S2000 CR in Apex Blue.

Apex blue just pops in person.  I love this entire build…..

Mugen Hood and Mugen MF10s!

He replaced the OEM hardtop with a Mugen piece.

Underneath the MF10s sits Endless Calipers…..Not many people run endless calipers, since they cost more than most of the Big Brake Kits out for the S2k

A better shot of the Mugen MF10 with Endless Calipers….

A caliper comparison, Areen’s Spoon Caliper setup with his brand new Project MU brake rotors.

My favorite cars at the meet for sure….

Areen’s Spoon Mirrors vs Mugen Blue mirror inserts.

Sleek and aerodynamic spoon mirrors…. not many S2ks can pull this off, doesn’t hurt when you have the full spoon kit.

I love how these look, they look much more blue than the spoon mirror inserts….and of course that mugen logo!

Here is Areen telling me about his 1 of 3 in the world J’s racing shiftknob and our crotches
Areen’s New ASM rear bar……Fresh off the boat from ASM.

Meet was not limited to Hondas, this mean FB RX-7 rolled by.

Or this 71′ datsun 240z

Two of Nemo Garage’s cars. their EM1 and EG….
Instagram S2k I follow, Mykeeeman.  Full J’s Racing exterior with some meaty ce28 and J’s racing 6pot calipers

The interior unfortunately was not as good as the exterior…. I’m sure he is still working on it. Looks look he has a cage with side bars, but the takata harness through the stock seats kills it for me. From a safety aspect it is unsafe and aesthetically, it looks bad.  All he really needs is seats and possibly a new center console cover.

Rear shot of the J’s racing rear bumper and J’s racing tow hook

J’s racing exhaust!

Another build I see on instragram, DPK ChuyChuy and his ITR

I love small details like this Fuji Speedway sticker on the lip….

First time really seeing a J swapped civic.  In real life it sticks out of the hood so much…..

Owner and his girl drive all the way from Vegas like this….. no hood and all….

Amazing how clean the engine fits in the engine bay

Stock bodied MKIV Supra rolling by..

I was suprised on the number of RHD Civics in attendance.  I felt like there were more RHD civics than LHD.
I love this clean look, lowered midori on CE28s in Titanium Silver.

Meet Life / Pickups: ASM bolts

I recently picked up some ASM bolts thanks to my friend Chris that brought them all the way from ASM in Japan.

I took this picture during my visit to ASM I didn’t pick the bolts up when I visited for whatever reason. When I found out Chris was going to Japan, I jumped at the opportunity to get the ASM bolts to complete my cooling plate setup.

Before I get too much into that, meetlife!

DSC05687

I noticed that all authentic Mugen Carbon Fiber Hardtops Spot like this when there is some moisture in the air….. I’m assuming this is where they glue the hardtop together….

DSC05698-2

Nemo’s NA2 NSX was looking mighty fine. I like the DC5 Recaro seats! The car looks OEM, but the further you look into it, the more small details you can find….such as the Stop Tech trophy big brake kit.

Or this Science of Speed SuperCharger Kit….

DSC05701

I don’t know the exact numbers, but I do know that White NA2 NSX are extremely rare. Future classic for sure….

DSC05703-2

Where there is one White NA2…..There always seems to be another nearby. This one is going for an ARC Theme and was rocking a variety of ARC products….

DSC05705-2

I love the Comptech Strutbar. Not many of these around….

Had a stand off with Photographer Nick Hur

It was our Buddy Colin’s birthday. We all chipped in and got them this autoart NSX model as a gift for him since he is an NSX owner himself.

Sung checking out his new Oil pan with a Moroso baffle welded in. I feel like this is more affective than my alloy craft oil pan baffle that I have in my S2000

DSC05794

Fast forward a few days….Areen with his new wheel setup…. Volk Racing G25 in Prism Silver. The Color is insane, depending on the angle you are looking at the wheel, the color is constantly changing…. all a matter of perspective

DSC05793

The wheel was in the shadows, I had to bright it out of the darkness with lightroom……

Remember the picture at the top of this post…. Chris bought me back that exact bolt set…..

DSC05798

ASM License plate bolts!

DSC05789

And with that, this completes my cooling plate setup! I previously only had 2 Mugen bolts on my car…. the ASM bolts and the Mugen bolts look exactly the same, they are probably made at the same place.

DSC05790

Thanks Chris for the bolts!
