This past week my friend Nick was getting his Ap1 differential replaced with an Ap2 unit.  As the S2k vulture I am, I asked for this old broken diff since he has no use/space for it…  I took the diff home and immediately tore it apart.

Yep I found the problem. The Pinion Gear sheared off..

My garaged smelled like diff fluid for a week after this.

So now. I am trying to figure out what to do. If I should go with a 4.44 from a Mazda speed miata or a 4.77 rear from a Kia Sportage.

4.77 is super aggressive though….

If I am rebuilding it I might go all out with the J’s Racing collar, Cyro treat gears, WPC treatment, and maybe a Comptech reinforced case, Spoon Sports High Capacity Differential Case …… decisions decision….
