Yeah It’s 2026 and I’m still writing about 2023. WTF mate! ( remember that meme? ) Okay in the timeline of things… I’m back in the USA from Japan.
Of course I’m hanging out at Formula S. Alan just got an ASM GT-09 Wing Trunk combo on his S2k CR. Remember how it was only a select few ballers running this? But now I personally know at least 10 people running it, crazy! Either the parts got cheap or owners are willing to spend even more money on these cars.
ASM carbon quality is so ace. As S2k owners we are very privileged to have a company providing almost OEM quality carbon to our shitty Honda Convertible. I can’t say that for my other cars.
While in Japan I got air brake duct upgrades for my ASM IS-04 dry carbon front bumper.
In this period Formula S was running the GT-09 Wing element on their GR86 track car with custom mounts
While I was in Japan, my Subaru GC8 was at the body shop getting the luansport WRC front bumper painted, along with my JDM Aluminum hood, JDM short rear bumper, Sti wing and Ganador mirrors. Here is it looking mint fresh out of paint. I gotta admit the 4 door looks goofy sometimes but it’s a great daily.
Car wasn’t fully repainted and silver is hard to match… but i’m happy for the price I paid. Here I am with this strange front and rear wheel combo. Front is is OEM optional Subaru STi Wheels made for a 04 STi and the rear is CE28n that were gold but now faded to a rose gold….
Since I was still Jet lagged, I signed up for the Socal Vintage BMW meet. The E30M3 looking mighty fine with the TE37.
BMW Isetta and something I don’t know since I’m not a huge BMW guy
If you ever wondered how a BMW Isetta opened up
Socal Vintage BMW groups the cars by chassis, so E30 in one section, E28, 2002s…. and so on. This was my neighbor in the E30 section. Very nice built 6 cylinder M20? Sorry not a bmw guy. Looks like he has ITBS with a plenum.
I can appreciate a clean E30 build when I see one though.
It’s insane being around so many other E30M3. I believe I was one out of 15-20?
This Ratty one has a S54 swap.
Son of Cobra brought out their demo car BMW 2002 with a BMW S14 Engine Swap. They focus on carbon fiber parts, like this carbon bonnet. Still not as nice as mine or ASM *cough *cough
Trunk carbon on a 2002
Another BMW 2002 built by Son of Cobra or comprising of mostly their parts. This looks like a BMW M10 engine with some carbs. Interesting surfboard inspired fiberglass hood with a wood skeleton. The raw fiberglass look is demonstrated on the trumpets too.
This BMW 2002 gives me bohemian vibes all around and it’s a roudie.
BMW M5 of the E28 type
BMW socal Vintage BMW meet coverage over…. not a huge bmw guy so sometimes these cars just blend in together.
back to Formula S, they mounted on an ASM tow strap I brought back from Japan.
My garage looking crazy with the S2k in pieces and Gc8 all back together…
I got a cool bumper for my EG civic
I installed JDM tail lights on my Gc8. Which is weird because my car is from Japan Japan, so it’s JDM and the tail lights are already jdm, but the new tail lights are called JDM tail lights?
Installed on a fresh RCM gasket, since the OEM subaru one is no longer made.
I threw on my matching wheels in the rear. This was prob my favorite form of this car. Gc8 has a very timeless look, unlike newer subaru.
Went to a meet with other GC8 homies
Not too long after I was on the 5 going south and I hit something which exploded my entire front bumper….
back at formula s checking out interesting cars
Finishing out 2023 at Honda USA HQ for a meet. Saw this sweet lotus Elise
I never understood people that trailer their cars to meets
190E with a K24 Kswap. I’ve seen this car at a few meets before.
Inside the collection hall is this crazy clean B18C GSR engine
GSR manifold showing how the crazy butterflies work. This is typically ditched for a Skunk2 setup
4th gen and 5th gen Honda Prelude
New Prelude, I think this car isn’t selling very well now in 2026
After the Honda meet I stopped by a resto for some food. This HK cafe has a rep of a HK taxi cab….
That’s it! Finishing out 2023 with the E30M3…. On to the next year!
