PickUps/Parts Review: TODA RACING 60-70MM CATALYST ADAPTER (TestPipe)

I got some parts reviews I’ve been meaning to put up…. Since I have an ASM 70mm Titanium exhaust (Which I believe is the best S2k exhaust ever, much better than the SS version, the sound is so crisp!), I’ve always ran it with an invidia 70mm testpipe which is 70mm straight through, for what that is, the Invidia unit is a great value for what it is and fitment is spot on. This Toda Racing 60-70MM CATALYST ADAPTER, makes perfect sense to me, smooth transitions should mean higher exhaust velocities right?  I’m not an engineer, but it makes me feel better because it says Toda racing and has a sticker for RACING USE ONLY

Toda Test Pipe-2I’m a huge fan of Toda Racing.  It seems like every Honda shop uses their products to build their engines, including the world famous KTECH….. and they run engines in Super GT…. How cool is that!

Of course another shoutout to RHDJapan some of the beautiful benefits of globalization….

Toda Test Pipe-12I love how this comes with an OEM Quality Gasket.

Toda Test Pipe-15
The only thing that would complete this would be an ASM or Toda Exhaust Manifold….. If only…..

After installing this on the car, the car was noticeably quieter on pulls.  I would assume this is because the air is moving faster now since it has a smoother transition, while before it was a 60mm exit on the header dumped directly into 70mm test pipe.  Honestly the car felt the same powerwise.

Life: S2k Cruise in San Diego

Just because I don’t “have” an S2000 does not mean this is not S2kandTheAnt…. I lent my camera to my friend Alvin to take some pictures of an S2k cruise a few Sundays ago. The cruise was through the very scenic mountains in the San Diego area. For those not from LA, San Diego is about an 1hr+ away from where we live, sometimes longer because, you know…..LA traffic. It’s a real thing, trust me. He snapped a bunch of pictures…. of rad cars in attendance.

03-26-2017_Cruise-2Not only were S2ks on the trip, but a few NSXs decided to swing by….

This NSX looked really fresh…interesting bling bling wheels.

Clean execution of an New Formula Red S2k, Ap2 lip, ZE40, Stoptech Calipers, and an OEM hardtop.

I could do a “yo dog” joke here, but interesting s2k air freshener.

Long Beach Blue NA2 NSX.  Whenever I think of a USDM spec NA2 NSX, I think of this color… There used to be one around my neighborhood growing up, it was probably brand new then.

Some cars definitely made the hike out to the cruise, This particular car came from Utah, while the first NSX came from Arizona.

This yellow NA1 Looekd pretty cool.  It was the most modified NSX in attendance.

I’m loving the OZ superleggeras on this car.  I used to have these rims on my Wife’s GC8…. 2.5 RS yo!

The sky was incredibly clear this day

Personalized license plates were out in full force.

Another shot of the NA1 NSX with some custom LED turn signals.

Since my friend has a Laguna Blue S2k, it was interesting to see the differences of color between the Long Beach Blue and Laguna Blue. Laguna blue seems to be a bit lighter.

An Evo 8 was in attendance. I’ve always wanted an Evo…..

They stopped by Alberto’s Taco Shop…. Alvin didn’t partake, because he had a long drive home…..

These yellow flowers were everywhere. They looked like dandelions.

A closer look at the NA1 Yellow NSX. Some LED tail lights to go with the GT wing.

Comptech/CT Engineering SuperCharger.

Interesting Strut brace, must be a reason it is designed like this.

Group shot!

Alvin’s LGBTQ, I mean LBP Ap2. On some Sticky Michelin Pilot Super Sports……

Final stop was this Pie Shop.

Alvin said the Pie was awesome….

I’ll try to have more posts up before I go back into full study mode….  Shoutout to Murphy for making this all possible!

Parts Review/ Life: MyAmuse in SoCal & Amuse Lug Nuts!

Hi all,
My friend Warren came out to SoCal to attend a wedding.  You can following him on instagram here .  He stayed at my place for a few days.  Of course he showed me his awesome and expensive Amuse Lug nuts.

His Amuse R1 Bumper, Amuse Hood S2k!  Sometimes I see my own car when I see his….. RIP old S2k 😦

The first glance at the Amuse Titanium lug nut.  The lug nut is insanely light, even compared to the Volk Racing Lug nut.  It’s an open ended lug not, so you can run these with extended studs!

Yep, that is Chris’s Mugen S2k!  Bronze CE28N for days…..

Apparently it takes more than one person to install the Amuse Lug nuts!

Goes well together….

So Amuse lug nuts, are they worth the money?  They’re super light and have “good fitment” haha hopefully lug nuts should have good fitment.  I would say maybe?  They sure look great.

Parts Review: CAR GARAGE AMIS MUGEN AIR CLEANER DUCT COVER – CARBON

First post of the year 2017!  So…. lots of things have happened.  Long story short, the S2k is gone, I had to sell the car whole, it wasn’t for money reasons, but I had to let it go quick.  I sold it to a friend and the car has been parted out…. I’m sure my parts are floating out there on a bunch of S2ks out there!  No worries, it’s just a car afterall….

Another life change, I quit my job and I’m studying to do a different field of work.  I’ve been doing that for the past 2 months or so….

Let’s get back on topic.  Everyone knows that the Mugen intake for the S2k requires you to cut up your Hood to fit unless you have an ASM, J’s, Mugen, or Spoon hood.  *Sidenote, I hear that the spoon hood still rubs with the Mugen intake…..

The problem is, after you cut up your hood, there is a nasty ugly hole in your hood.  JDM Tuner, Car Garage Amis rectifies this problem with their MUGEN AIR CLEANER DUCT COVER.  I haven’t seen any real pictures of this besides the stock one on the Car Garage Amis website, which happens to be the smallest picture ever!

Luckily my friend Kevin bought a Mugen intake and the Car Garage Amis MUGEN AIR CLEANER DUCT COVER from RHDjapan! I swear they should sponsor me.  He sent me a few pictures of him installing it…..

Kevin already went ahead and installed his new Mugen Intake.  I’ll post a DIY on how to do that in the future….

The most ass clenching moment of the entire install.  The Car Garage Amis instructions they send you give you a rough guideline of where to cut and is entirely in Japanese.  Luckily my friend Kevin has some Japanese colleagues that helped him translate this document to further clarify.  Kevin made a rough guideline on where to cut and made a careful incision with his dremel after blue taping it all up.

After cutting, Kevin made sure the Cover fit.  Here is a rough mockup of it on his car.

Everything is coming back together!

The next day Kevin stopped by my place so I could take a look at everything.  As expected, the fitment was spot on.  I took a couple of snaps…

It’s so beautiful, if I had to cut my hood for a Mugen intake I would definitely get this piece.  It really cleans up the engine bay.

It almost looks factory the way it contours around all the nooks and crannies.

One last look at the MUGEN AIR CLEANER DUCT COVER…

Full frontal shot.  He went with the ASM cooling plate in addition to his Mugen Intake.

Another shot of his Mugen intake…. and his dress up bolts.

One of the few people with the Gotuning/Greddy Spectrum Elite Exhaust for the S2000.  I remember when these first came out years ago…… The single version has been since discontinued.
